Q&A for Ogres (atm...)

Purpose: The purpose of this thread is to collect Q&As
& Errata needed to clarify the 8th Edition Ogre Kingdoms rulebook.


End Product: At the end of this "project" the work product will be used
by the Direwolf FAQ Council and also delivered to the Design Studio.

#1 - This thread is to collect Ogre Kingdoms rules issues
that need to be addressed...NOT to debate them. A bit of discussion is bound to
occur, but if you wish to debate Ogre Kingdoms issues please start a SEPARATE
thread.

#2 - Before posting an issue to this thread please make sure that you
have done your homework by reviewing the Ogre Kingdoms rulebook and all relevant
main rules.

#3 - Lastly, when posting an issue, please also provide
commentary on why you believe this to be an issue, and any page numbers from the
relevant books.

The Questions

Army Special Rules

Q. Does an ironfist
count as a shield for the purposes of determining a character's access to magic
armour?
Commentary: The ironfist "works
exactly like a shield".

Bestiary

Q. Should the rules selected
for "Been There, Done That" be revealed openly, or are they secret, like magic
items or fanatics?
Commentary: Special rules
are normally "public", but those selected by "Been There, Done That" are a
special case.

Q. If a unit fighting
Yhetees fails its Fear test, are they reduced to WS0? If so, are they able to
attack at all?
Commentary: It is unclear
whether the -1 WS is applied to the reduced WS of the fearful models, or if it
is applied to their full WS before fear reduceds it to 1. It is not clear
whether models with WS0 can attack; the rulebook states that they are hit
automatically, but does not specify whether they can still hit on a natural

Q. If a unit
charges two or more units of Gnoblars with Trappers at the same time, do they
take Dangerous Terrain tests for each unit they come into contact with?
Commentary: The rule is unclear

Q. Do Dwarfs Hate Scraplaunchers, Ironblasters, and
Standard Bearers with Lookout Gnoblars due to their Ancestral Grudge
rule?
Commentary: Gnoblars are included in
the "types of greenskin" Dwarfs hold a grudge against, but it is unclear whether
they hate models which are only partly gnoblar.

Q. Can the Ironblaster stand and shoot as a charge
reaction?
Commentary: Although the
Ironblaster fires like a cannon, it does not have "Slow to Fire" among its
special rules.

Q. When attacking an
Ironblaster in close combat, which WS is used, the Gnoblar's or the
Ogre's?
Commentary: The rules for chariots
simply state that the crew's WS is used -- there are two crew with differing
values in this case.

Q.
Can a Thundertusk and its riders each target a separate unit, or must all three
weapons be fired at the same target?
Commentary: A unit's missile weapons must all target
the same unit unless otherwise specified, however the range and manner of
resolving the 3 missile weapons are markedly different.

Q. Can a Thundertusk stand and shoot with
its Sphere of Frost-wreathed Ice?
Commentary: Although described as a "Stone thrower
attack", the Sphere does not have Slow to Fire among its special
rules.

Q. Can a Ward Save granted by the
Ironcurse Icon be taken against hits from the Scraplauncher Catapult,
Ironblaster Cannon, and/or the Sphere of Frost-Wreathed Ice?
Commentary: the above all firs as war machines, but
are not war machines. The Icon grants a ward save against "war machine
attacks".

Q. Can
Golgfag's Maneaters make a Vanguard move?
Commentary: Golgfag is forced to join the unit, but
does not himself have Vanguard; the entire unit must have Vanguard in order to
make a Vanguard move.

Q.
If Skrag is part of a unit when he becomes Unbreakable, what happens?
Commentary: Unbreakable characters are not permitted
to join non-Unbreakable units, and vice versa. Skrag might become Unbreakable
while part of a unit, and the rules do not specify how to handle such a
situation.

Q. If the wielder
of the Thundermace is in the second or subsequent rank, what WS does he roll
against for the Thundercrush attack?
Commentary: The Thundermance specifies that the
wielder rolls against the highest WS of all enemies in base contact, however if
making a supporting attack the wielder is not in base contact with any
enemy.

Q. If a magic item
generated by the Gnoblar Thiefstone is being carried by both a friend and foe,
are both items lost?
Commentary: The intent
is unclear in the text

If both stones generate the same item, will the first to generate the item lose

Commentary: The item is a Talisman, and so has no
inherent limit to close combat.

been wiped out, but the character is still alive, must the bearer still roll to
see if he is killed?

a Bruiser who carries a magic standard also choose a single Big Name worth up to
50 points?
Commentary: The box on page 88
limits only other magic items. Big Names are bought out of the magic items
points limit, but are not magic items.
